How to Create your Own Photoshop Borders

This is the basic tutorial for creating Photoshop borders. Through this tutorial you will learn how to frame your digital photo with Photoshop borders in easy and simple steps.

  1. Open photo or image that you want to frame.

    Sample Photo that will be framed with Photoshop

  2. Go to Layer menu → New → Layer From Background and name it “Photo”.

  3. Go to Layer menu → Layer Style → Blending Options.

    On the Blending Option style, check Inner Shadow and give the setting shown on the screenshot below.

    Now the photo has been framed by a solid black border.

    You can change both color and size of the border by adjusting the color and the size of shadow.

    For more realistic view you can apply bevel and emboss effect to the border.
