On the previous tutorial you have learned how to create photoshop borders in a very simple ways. Now we’ll go through to more advanced steps to beautify your digital photo with Photoshop border.

Here is the final result that we’ll be trying to achieve through this tutorial.

The final result of Photoshop border creation

  1. Create a new Photoshop file with size that’s appropriate to the size of your photo. In this tutorial, I will create the file size of 500 px to 375 px.
  2. Set Foreground color to #66481C and Background color to #B7B2AA. Of course, you can pick another color as you will.Setting the foreground and background color in photoshop
  3. Create new layer and name it “frame”.

  10. Decrease the layer frame2 size to be 80% smaller. You can do this by pressing Ctrl + T and then go to Option Bar.
Setting the width and height via Photoshop option barLayer frame2 that has been resized to 80 percent smaller
  11. Now we are going to apply some layer style to layer frame2. Double-click the layer frame2 and choose Blending Options. Tick the Color Overlay and Textureoption like shown below.Setting the Photoshop color overlay for layer frame2Setting of photoshop texture layer style for layer frame2

On the above texture setting I’m using leaf texture for the elements. You can try to use another texture if you like.

The layer frame2 will now look like this.

  12. To make the Photoshop border more attractive, I will add some flowers to the top-right and left-bottom of the frame. In this tutorial I’ve picked up a free beautiful flower from www.sxc.hu  and then remove it’s background so the flower won’t overrun the photo which I’ll insert in the final step.A photoshop border with beautiful flowers around it
  13. The final step is to insert photo right above the layer backgroundon the layer palette.  Again, I’m using a free photo but from another cool site, Imagebase. The final result of Photoshop border creation
