Cloud Effect Photoshop Tutorial

Photoshop is an image editor program which is able to edit and manipulate photos and images, beside it can also create various unique effects such as shadow effects, flame effects, water effects, animated text effects, cloud effects, fire effects and much more.

This post explains how to create a cloud effect photoshop especially for beginners. In the final example you will see the compare between two photos with and without the cloud  (it is just Photoshop Cloud Effect :D )

The method of making photoshop cloud effect is very simple, you will be able to set up some coloring, opacity, transparency, and size as you want. Here are the steps how to create clouds effect photoshop.

  1. Open Photoshop Program then start a New File with any size. The size in this tutorial is 300 x 225 pixels.  Select Gradient Tool (Liniar Gradient) of dark blue to lighter blue by dragging your mouse.Cloud Effect Photoshop
  2. Set Background Color (White : #FFFFFF) and Foreground Color (Black: #000000), you can do it by pressing “D” button on your keyboard then Create a New Layer (Layer 1).Cloud Photoshop Effect
  3. On the Menu Bar select Filter => Render => Cloud.

  4. Set Layer 1 (New Layer) on mode : Screen.

  5. Select Image => Adjustments => Levels  then set Input Levels (25 – 1,00 – 150)

  6. Right click on Layer 1 then select Duplicate.

  7. Select Filter => Stylize => Extrude then set as the next image.

  8. Select Type => Fill => Size : 2 => Fill Depth : 5 => Random => Solid Front Faces.

  9. On the Layer Window, set the opacity of each Layers by decreasing the level of opacity. Until this step your project will look like the following picture.

  10. look at the picture below. The Photo has not been given Photoshop cloud effects.

  11. Look again at the picture below. Now the photo has been given a decoration of photoshop cloud effects
